End of 2nd Trimester!

This week is the end of 2nd trimester! Thursday will be the last day with current classes and then students will go to their new Encore class on Friday. It is important for students to remember that ALL missing and late work must be turned in by the end of the day Wednesday for me to add it to grades!

It's been a great trimester. I hope all the students learned a lot and had some fun too!

February 21st-24th

I hope everyone enjoys the three day weekend! Next week is another busy week in health class!

The 6th grade classes will continue to learn about the body systems. They will be wrapping up the unit towards the end of the week with a test the following week.

The 7th graders are finishing the drug unit. There will be a unit test and folder check on Friday. This is the last test of the trimester so I encourage students to study and try their best!

The 8th graders will be taking the reproductive systems test on Tuesday. The remainder of the week they will begin to work on the Teen Parent Project- an eye opening experience for many!

Amplify program in health class

Dear Parents of Eighth Grade Students:

As a part of our overall health and prevention program, Lakeview Jr. High School will sponsor the Amplify Youth Development Program for our eighth grade students during the 2011-2012 school year.

The Amplify Program is designed to provide junior high school students with information and resources to properly deal with relationship issues before dating begins. It is our sincere belief that properly educated adolescents are much more likely to make good decisions, develop healthy relationships and postpone involvement in sexual activity.

The Amplify Program will be presented to students at Lakeview during health education classes. Though not every student is enrolled in health class, all eighth graders will participate in the one week program at some point in the school year.

In preparation for the Amplify Program, a special parent information night was held in the fall. If parents were not able to attend and would like more information on the program, feel free to contact me.

If you have any questions at all or would like more information, let me know! In addition, you can get more information about the Amplify program as well as parent resources by visiting http://www.amplifyyouthdevelopment.com
